Tekton Research Collaborates with Leading Neurologist Dr. Amor Mehta for Clinical Research Expansion in New Jersey

Marlboro, NJ – Tekton Research is pleased to announce that Amor R. Mehta, MD, a leading neurologist specializing in epilepsy, seizure disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, has joined the organization’s collaborative network. With a strong commitment to advancing epilepsy care and epilepsy-related neurodiagnostics in New Jersey, Dr. Mehta brings an unparalleled dedication to enhancing patient outcomes and driving innovative clinical research in neurological health.

Dr. Mehta has built an impressive career dedicated to neurology and epilepsy care. His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Illinois, followed by a medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now Rutgers University Medical School. He pursued a three-year residency in general neurology at NYU Medical Center, home to one of the world’s leading epilepsy programs, furthering his expertise in neurology. He then completed a prestigious two-year fellowship in epilepsy at NYU mentored by Dr. Orrin Devinsky – a pioneer in modern epilepsy care. With extensive training and experience, Dr. Mehta returned to his home state of New Jersey, eventually founding his private practice in 2018 – a unique independent neurology practice focusing on epilepsy and seizure disorders as well as complicated neurocognitive and neurodegenerative disorders that may be related to epileptic causes.

Dr. Mehta has established a unique private practice – The Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures. This innovative practice is home to the state’s only independent, 12-room video EEG monitoring unit. This facility serves patients across a spectrum of demographics, providing comprehensive neurological care that minimizes the need for hospital-based services and reduces healthcare costs. Dr. Mehta’s practice located centrally in Marlboro, NJ, specializes in advanced neurodiagnostic testing, allowing patients to undergo vital diagnostic procedures and treatment within a single location. Dr. Mehta’s vision is to provide a streamlined and cost-effective approach to epilepsy and neurological care, supporting patients from all ages. As one of few epileptologists working in a community setting, seeing patients who are brewing epileptic conditions before these conditions become readily obvious, Dr. Mehta developed a unique approach in his practice to accurately make an early diagnosis of epilepsy and manage it appropriately in order to prevent long term complications of an unmanaged epileptic condition such as dementia and other neurocognitive problems. By joining Tekton Research, Dr. Mehta aims to further contribute to the field of clinical research, enhancing the understanding, treatment, and prolonged impacts of complex neurological conditions.

“Being part of clinical research allows me access to novel drug candidates that could benefit patients dealing with a range of neurological conditions, from epilepsy to dementia,” said Dr. Mehta. “My goal is to drive forward the way we diagnose, treat, and manage these conditions.”

At the Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures, Dr. Mehta serves a notably diverse patient population, and his partnership with Tekton Research will continue to extend his patient base. Through his affiliation with Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ (Ocean County), Dr. Mehta provides care to a broad range of patients, including those in retirement communities who may face heightened risks relative to neurodegenerative diseases like dementia.

As a Tekton Research affiliate, Dr. Mehta envisions leveraging this partnership to expand his practice’s clinical research capabilities and provide novel therapeutic options for his patients. Looking toward the future, Dr. Mehta believes that clinical research will increasingly adopt a precision-based approach, utilizing genetic data to tailor treatments specific to each patient’s profile.

“In the field of neurology, and particularly epilepsy, we aim not just to address symptoms but to target the underlying causes. Precision medicine, guided by genetic insights, will be instrumental in finding the most effective therapies for each patient,” Dr. Mehta shared.

Dr. Mehta’s partnership with Tekton Research marks a significant milestone for the Monmouth County, Ocean County and greater New Jersey communities, bringing transformative care and advanced research directly to patients.
