Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, transmitted through the bite of infected deer ticks. Common symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash known as erythema migrans. If left untreated, the infection can spread to the joints, heart, and nervous system.
